120724 Strong Heart: "Super Junior is Alive" Part 4 -- Shindong perspective
SD: Now this is important. This is where my story comes in. I was quiet throughout this whole thing because on this day, the person that cried the most was me.
Super Junior: Right! Right!
SD: Actually, I was sleeping in the waiting room because I was really sleepy. I woke up, and what I woke up to was Kyuhyun being hit for the last time.
[all laugh]
SD: And the atmoshere was so weird! And what was funnier, was that the prank was so funny that the manager hyung had filmed it with a camera.
EH: We actually have a video of it.
SD: And when I saw the video, I realized that, ah, it wasn't that one person did anything wrong, but people just were responding so badly to each other. So me, I don't know if these people will remember this, but I went to each one, and I said, "Hyung. Hyung, you sould apologize. Since you're the hyung." and I'd go to Eunhyuk, and say, "Eunhyuk. You should just let it go. We have to broadcast." And I went to Kyuhyun, and said, "Kyuhyun. Are you okay? Don't cry." And I said these things SO many times to EVERYONE.
EH: That's right, that's right!
[all laugh]
SD: I just wanted this to work out well! And even right before we went on stage, I said, "We have to act like the pros that we are. We are celebrities. What goes on broadcast - we're pros!" and we went on stage. And they went, "Winner is Mr. Simple!" And on the side, I took Donghae or someone, and I was like, "Hey, hey, laugh, laugh!" and when no one did, I went, "Ohhh..." [resigned]

SD: As soon as that happened, I thought, "What have I been doing this whole time?" And I got SO mad. And so after everything was over, we went up to the waiting room.

SD: The members all came in. And I felt like I was going to explode. And in front of me, I saw a box. I got so, so angry that I swore really loudly, then I -
Boom: Ate it?
SD: WHY WOULD I EAT A BOX?

SD: So I saw the box and I kicked it with all the strength I had. Because I wanted to show them how angry I was. I kicked it and I said, "WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT? YOU CALL YOURSELVES PROS?" And I wanted to get rid of this atmosphere. But then, the terrible thing was, was that the box was filled with styrofoam! So I kicked it, and then all this white stuff went, pooooooof.

LT: And then he kicked it and -
SD: AND EVEN MORE, THAT BOX HAD WATER -
LT: It was coke! It had coke in it!
SD: AND THE COKE WENT PSHHHH AND IT SPRAYED ALL OVER YESUNG HYUNG!
LT: As it sprayed all over Yesung, and Yesung, who had just been staying still the entire time, got angry!
[all laugh]
LT: And he went to Shindong, and went, "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING RIGHT NOW?"
SD: So I was so angry at the time, but then Yesung never did anything wrong! So I went, "No, that's not what I - " [frustrated]

SD: And I started crying!
SDY: This entire situation!
SD: Because I was so angry at everything! All I did was wake up from my sleep at a 'thud' sound! So if you think about it, there was a schedule after that, Dream Team. And if it weren't for me crying, we probably wouldn't have been able to make up that day right away. And a weird thing was that our teamwork got so good that day.
EH: And that's what I was saying before, as I won first place so miraculously, there was a lot of emotions, and -

LT: We actually play really harsh pranks on each other. So they even do things like pulling off each other's pants. And while Victoria was there, they started taking off my clothes.
EH: And even that, it was the kid Lee Donghae who started it!
LT: But even with that, I still took all the jokes.
LDW: Victoria, do you remember this?
Victoria: I remember.
SDY: Victoria, why did you stay in the waiting room while they were stripping him??
[all laugh]
Victoria: Because at the time, Luna went to the hospital, so I was just resting and I was monitoring what we had just done earlier, and they were going to strip oppa's clothes, and I just didn't look -
LT: So my pants were almost off.
Boom: He has a tiny pelvis. The pants just come off.
LT: We play like that even during practice.
SDY: Between guys, yeah, they can play like that.
LT: And they take pictures of you like that and things. So we were playing like this.
EH: We really do that.
LT: And there were so many jokes before that, too, so I calmed down a little, and I said, "Since I played with you a lot, now I'm a dead person. I'm going to sleep!" And I really cutely pulled the blanket over my head. But then I felt some kind of foreign material fall on my face, and at first, I thought it was spit.

LT: And in that small 2-3 minutes, a lot of things went through my head. As I was with the members for over ten years as the leader, I have a good image, and if I get angry now, will I become a bad person? And should I or should I not get angry here?
EH: That's so cute.
LT: And as I was doing that, the second time, as it fell, I just thought, "this is Eunhyuk." So I lifted my head, and Donghae was far away, over there, and Eunhyuk was sitting right in front of me like this. So I wrapped up the blanket, and I thought it was Donghae at first, so I threw it at him. "WAS IT YOU?" Donghae was smiling at first, then he stopped. And he was like, "Hyung, it's not me." And Eunhyuk was sitting like this beside me, and he had his mouth covered with his hand. But to me, it looked like he was laughing! So I thought, "This is the criminal!" So I hit the back of his head. And he got hit, and for the first time, he yelled at me. "I SAID IT WASN'T ME!" And a fight - that's when loud voices add together, and people get emotionally upset. So the two of them were saying, "IT WASN'T ME! WASN'T ME!" And all the way in the corner over there, with a very innocent smile, Kyuhyun went, "Hyung, it was me." [Gets up with hand raised]
[all laugh]
LT: And at that moment, at this "It was me" and the innoncent smile, I sort of lost it. And so I went to him, and I hit the back of his head. And I said, "Are you sane or not?" And Kyuhyun didn't know the situation and I thought Kyuhyun was in that space from the beginning. Since there are so many members. A person will regret things. I came to the bathroom, I started tearing up. Why did I do that? Kyuhyun walks to me. "Hyung, you can't do that to me," he said. "I think about you so much." And when I heard that, my heart hurt even more. And even though there were still tears, I said, "Just go. Just go." Because I still had pride. "Hyung doesn't have anything to say to you, so just go." And Kyuhyun left, crying. So I came downstairs alone to the car, and I thought. "How will I solve this? This is the biggest situation to the team. This is how teams disband."
EH: No, but really, in that situation, that thought was possible.
LT: Yeah. So I thought, "Okay. Let's just go." So when I went to SBS's opposite hallway, Kyuhyun was really standing like this [with hands on hips] and looking at the sky and crying relentlessly.
[audience responds]
LT: And from 5 meters away, I said, "Kyuhyun." And he said, [dramatically] "I have nothing to say to you."
[all laugh]
LT: And I - the live time was coming. And so I said, "Kyuhyun. Even though you may refuse to see me ever again, we have to broadcast, and if we happen to get an award, you should say the speech." And we were getting ready for the broadcast, and behind me through the mirror, I saw someone who kept doing - [sits slumped with head down]
[all laugh]
LT: It was Eunhyuk. So this was 15 minutes before the broadcast, and I thought, "I made a mistake. The person that I should really apologize to is Eunhyuk." But this was already 2 hours after it had happened, and it wasn't something that I could solve in 10 minutes. I know Eunhyuk well and I know that if he gets angry once, he gets really hurt a lot, so I debated what I should do. And I thought, okay. So I should have Eunhyuk and Kyuhyun both say the winning speech. So I went to Eunhyuk, and I told him, "If we get the award, you should say the winning speech." [pause] "Why me? Why do I have to do it?"
EH: Because I was alone for 2 hours.
LT: And I thought, "This won't work even if I persuade him." So I just said, "You're doing it," and we began broadcast. "Super Junior!" And if this was another time, the members would gather together and play jokes and what not, but this time, everyone was separate, and some people had gone to the dorm, and they didn't even know what happened, and it was an awkward situation. And when Super Junior won, the microphone came to me, since I usually say the speech first. So I pulled Kyuhyun and Eunhyuk with me and I gave the microphone to Eunhyuk first. And Eunhyuk got it, and he seriously just went, "Thank you teacher. Thank you fans." [with no expression] and he just ended it. So the encore song was coming, and the members usually would go up and yell, "Thank you everyone! We are Super Junior!" and all the members were just doing - [claps to the beat with serious faces]
[all laugh]
LT: And some people, the encore song had started, and they were just looking at the floor. And because I thought I should up the atmosphere, I was clapping and acting happy, but everyone else -

And Teukie hyung, trying to lift the atomsphere again, said to the members, "Play pranks on me! I'll take everything!" and said things like that. Ah okay, so after we joked for a long time, Teukie hyung said he was getting tired, and said he was going to sleep, and he pulled the blanket up like this [over his face] to sleep. And the thing is, Donghae is very bad at assessing situations.

EH: He is REALLY bad at assessing situations. He started playing a joke with pouring water. Teukie hyung pulled the blanket off his face, and he was still laughing still, then. "Hey, stop it."
SDY: Ah, so there was something before!
Victoria: That's right.
EH: But as I was watching, I saw that Teukie hyung's face was slightly -
LDW: He wasn't actually laughing even though he was laughing.
EH: Exactly. So I was just staying still. And even to Donghae, I was saying, [whispering] "Hey. Don't do it. Stop it." But this kid, as soon as Leeteuk pulled the blanket up again, he poured the water again! The second time! And so the second time, he said, "Hey. I said to stop it," with a little bit of a serious face. So Donghae finally understood the situation. And for the last time, Donghae was debating whether or not he should do it when Kyuhyun came in!
[All laugh]
EH: Kyuhyun, because it looked like so much fun, said that he will do it, poured and hid. And after he hid, Teukie hyung got very angry. Although I'm the hyung, because the dongsaengs were being -
LT: Because they were bullying.
EH: Yeah. He could have thought like that.
SDY: Because he said you should stop a couple times already.
EH: So he got up, and he came to me, and stroking my head lightly -
LDW: In a broadcastable way -
EH: [gestures hitting] He stroked my head like this, and he said, "IT WAS YOU, WASN'T IT?" and I was so upset. "Hyung. It wasn't me." So I had a bit of a mental destruction. Yeah. So last year, when we were promoting with Mr. Simple, the 5th album, it was a day when there was an Inkigayo performance. After the pre-recording and the broadcast, there is a 3 or 4 hour space. In that space, the members, if they want to go back to the dorm, they do, and if they want to play in that time, they play, and if they want to sleep, they sleep, and it's just free time. And for me, I had time, so I went to the church. The talk at the church was especially warm that day. If I change first, the other will change also. If I approach the others with a smile first, the other will approach me with a smile also. If I say bitter things to Lee Dongwook-sshi, Lee Dongwook-sshi will say bitter things back, yeah. It was beautiful talk like that. And then after it was over, I rushed to the waiting room. And the members were playing. Leeteuk was lying there with the blanket over his head, and Eunhyuk and Donghae had water poured out on a lid, and they were having fun, wondering whether they should pour it or not. So I thought, "Ah, I should play with the members! I should play the prank." So I said, "Hyung, I'll do it, I'll do it," and I went and if he was sleeping like this, I poured the water and I hid like this.
Female guest: Ah, so childish~
KH: So I hid like this!
EH: [Kyuhyun poured the water] On his face, like this.
KH: And the response came. He pulled off the blank like this, and I hear, "WHO WAS THAT?" I think it was Donghae, he said, "Hyung, it's not me." "THEN IT WAS YOU?" And I hear some kind of a thud, then "Hyung, it wasn't me, either." And then I think, "what is this? What just happened?" And I hear, "THEN WHO WAS IT?" so I said, "Uh hyung, it was me." KH: After I got hit, I thought, "What?" and Leeteuk was leaving, but I guess he couldn't control his anger. He went, "Aish - " and he turned around and he said, "You are a really bad punk," and -

KH: and I got hit again. All the stylists, the makeup staff, the hair staff, the manager hyungs, the members, there were about 20 to 30 people in the room watching, and Victoria was also there!
SDY: You were also there!
KH: I got hit then [with everyone watching]. So I thought, "this isn't right," and I followed him out. Since Leeteuk was leaving the room. He was in the bathroom and looking out the window. Just forgetting being hit or whatever, that situation - I just felt like crying.
SDY: Because you've played the pranks before, too, and suddenly -
KH: Yeah, and I'd just returned from church, too. My heart was very warm, and I thought, "how could hyung do this to me?" and so I said, "Hyung, even if I did wrong, isn't this too much? Hyung, even if I did something worse, how could you do this to me?"
Boom: This is like a teen drama!

KH: I felt like if I talked more, I would start crying. So I just went, "Hurgh!" and I left. The feeling was still coming up in my chest, and a little bit later, Leeteuk came to me. And he said, "I'm - "
SDY: Did he hit you again?

KH: Teukie hyung went, "Kyuhyun, I'm sorry. Let's talk." And I said, "I don't want to talk to you right now," and I went upstairs.
Boom: because you thought you might cry again.
KH: Right. And at the same place just a floor above, I was looking at the same corner and crying, and for 30 minutes, an hour, I calmed myself down alone and I was about to return to the waiting room when I saw Leeteuk sitting alone on the stairs. I only saw Leetuek's back. And I saw the leader's small shoulders -

KH: I just held it in and I just went to the waiting room. And I wasn't speaking to anyone and I just sat down on a chair blankly, and a little while later, Leeteuk comes to me, and he said, "Kyuhyun, if we happen to get an award today - " we were the Mutizen Song candidates, " - if we happen to get an award, you sould say the winning speech." And at that, I can't say, "Okay, hyung," right? So I said, "No. I'm not going to." And I said, that, but in my head, I was thinking, "What should I say?" and I was coming up with the winning speech. Just in case. And it was time to announce. "The mutizen song goes to Super Junior's Mr. Simple!" I was thinking of a speech that was very touching. Because I don't know with what mindset Teukie hyung chose me for the speech, but I was going to apologize anyway, so I thought, "I should say something that's beautiful and touching." and Leeteuk was pushing me. I was in the corner of the stage like I didn't want to say the speech, and he pushed me, like, "Go. Go to the centre of the stage." and then he handed the microphone to Eunhyuk. And for whatever reason, Eunhyuk's face isn't bright either. But you know a speech that's ve-ry generic. He said something that was very generic, and I thought, "he'll give it to me next," and I was about to get it from him. But as he lowered his mic, the MCs, said, "Now - " and they started saying the ending comments.
